Blog 1: The Sound and the Fury

Tell us about something that just drives you nuts. It could be something that people do, a movie that should have been burned when it was still in script form, even a weather pattern that is completely unacceptable in civilized society. What just flat-out makes you mad?

Q: What if someone else already posted what I was thinking of? Or what if someone else's comment made me change my mind about what I want to write about?

A: Then go with it! You can always bring something new to a topic that someone else started.

Q: Can I use this as a starter for my OpEd?

A: No, absolutely not. You must have strong opinions about two separate things.

*crickets chirp*

Oh, wait, what I meant was "Yes, absolutely! Why do you think I picked this topic?"

Q: Do I HAVE to use this as a starter for my OpEd?

A: Nope. Not at all. Not even a little bit.

  1. I absolutely hate when people don't keep their room or their cars clean. In order for me to feel like I have my life in order, I need a clean room and a clean car. Being in a room or a car that isn't clean makes me feel anxious and stressed.

  2. I hate it when people abuse or kill animals because they think they do not matter or for sport or fun. I think animals matter a great deal and that they do have feelings. Just because there are a million of them in the world, does not make it alright to kill one for the heck of it, just as you would not kill a human for the same reason. I think if you kill an animal it should be done humanly and when in need and as much of the animal as possible should be used.

  3. I hate it when you ask someone about something that is obviously there and a issue to them and they say nothing. It shows that they have no trust in you and consider you unworthy of their feelings. It just erks me to no end.I would much rather them say I don't want to tell you then blow me off with "nothing". irritating.

  4. I really drives me nuts when people aren't appreciative of what they have. It can be simple things like not saying thank you for a ride to school, or it can be big things like demanding the newest computer because the one you have clearly is no longer suitable. We live in such a materialist country, and we don't ever stop to appreciate the fact that we even have electricity and drinkable water. It's sickening that people's priorities are so skewed that they actually believe they "deserve" certain temporal things merely for being born, whereas in third-world countries, the people don't even believe they "deserve" shoes and food. We have it so good here, I wish people noticed that.

  5. I really hate it when people blatantly disrespect other people. There are always people out there who find it humorous to make fun of someone whom they consider lesser than themselves; whether that be the elderly or simply someone new to their school. I don't understand why anyone would treat anyone with such disregard. I was raised knowing that I should respect and be welcoming to anyone that I may come across, so seeing people who don't follow such simple common courtesy just irks me to no end. Give people the respect that they deserve!

  6. I hate when people act one way around one person and a different way with another, especially the opposite gender. I don't think it's necessary to change one self to get attention or to be "cool". People are loved for who they are and in most cases not for who they seem to be. I personally like when people are real and not fake because its best to just be you. No one needs to be someone that they're really not because it's harder to put on a face than just be yourself.

  7. I hate when individuals are hypocritical. I think it is disrespectful and rude when people act this way. When I see that someone tells me one thing but does another, I instantly lose trust in them and respect for them. I wish I lived in a world where I could believe that when someone says something, they will always follow through with it. To me, trust is so important and I simply can't trust someone who goes back on their word or does something against their beliefs. It's so aggravating.

  8. It drives me nuts when people bite their nails. I find it really disgusting. I can't help but think of all the nasty that gets tapped under their nails and then there they go chewing away on those bad boys. Once they bite them off what exactly do they do with the nail pieces? Do they leave of trail of nail clippings on the ground, or worst of all are they eating them? I just don't understand this nauseating habit.

  9. It really bugs me when people are unappreciative of orchestral music. It's not a crime to dislike classical or change the radio station when Beethoven comes on, but PLEASE do not gripe and complain about it! Especially when you are at a live performance. The hours that many of us use to chill out on Facebook and watch t.v., are used by musicians to learn and master an instrument. They know how to read the music, the dynamics ( which are mostly in Italian), and then they go out and share what they love with everyone. That deserves respect, not whining or loud-talk ( especially as the people behind you try to listen. Hard work deserves to be recognized, not just when it comes to sports.

  10. It drives me crazy when people are impatient when driving. It especially drives me crazy when people tail other cars! So many people are always in a huge rush to get from one place to another, never giving themselves enough time to get to where they need to go. Yeah it's frustrating when people go really slow, but tailing them and being super impatient and rude won't change anything. I wish people were more respectful to older individuals who are driving slower. They are just being more cautious!

  11. What really drives me crazy is parents who do not think the rules apply to them. I have had numerous occasions where I am at a sporting events for a younger sibling and parents begin to yell and counter every call the referee makes. These parents believe they know everything there is to know about that particular sport, but yet they are not referees or coaches themselves. Then when games are called, cards given, or harsher penalties ensue due to these belligerent parents they feel it wasn't their fault. That they were in the right and neither the coach, players, or referees could ever be right. I wish parents would just take some time to enjoy their children's game, if things get serious and a child is close to being injured due to calls not being made then take it up with the coach and get his view on the matter, if he agrees which he most likely will because he wants to keep his players safe then he can make a comment to the ref. I think it is even worse when parents are talked to and told to quiet down and they still believe that they are right, here is a news flash most kids love their parents to be at their games, they want to hear them cheer and be happy for them, however they don't want their parent to always be the one correcting everyone else and being thrown out of games. So parent's please take the time to breath and think before yelling something negative or derogatory to the ref, players, or coaches.

  12. I'm a pretty competitive person when it comes to sports. I can't stand when a referee makes several bad calls! I know we call make mistakes, so I understand an occasional error. However, when a referee keeps making bad calls, either because he or she has a prejudice against a team or because they just stink at judging the game, I get irritated.

  13. I do not like being around people who add in little white lies to experiences of theirs or when they describe their interests to others. Listening to a story be exaggerated, when I already know the details, kills me inside. That person is only doing it to make their life seem better or more exciting than others. I truly feel bad that they think the only way to be accepted is by having a more exciting life because it's not. Also, I can't stand it when someone lies about a few of their interests because they think the other person won't like them if they don't enjoy doing something that person likes to do. Be yourself, love your life the way it is, and others will naturally like you for who you are. If they don't, they're missing out on someone as special as you.

  14. I hate it when people lack all personal hygiene. Come on, it's easy to take just a quick shower every day or just put on deodorant or something. It's just a complete lack of effort/caring on their part and is disrespectful to people who have deal with it. Nobody wants to sit behind the person who smells every day. What especially bugs me is when it's continuous. It's not like they just had a bad day or woke up late and didn't have enough time to get ready or something. No, it happens every day.

  15. I really dislike, with a fiery passion, when people steal things. They didn't earn the money to purchase the desired item. They have no right to take what isn't theirs. I could just punch robbers in the face.

  16. What really truly bothers me is when people don't have high morals when it comes to dating and whatnot. I understand the world is changing, but that doesn't mean we have to. I love the time I was born in just because I know I am meant to be here at this time, but I would have loved to live in the early 20th century where kissing and holding hands, and even hugging, was considered very serious. Plus, with the world changing, comes horrible jokes. I detest perverted anything. It makes me sick, and I can't see why people can't just grow up and stop talking about stuff like that. It's such a serious and sacred thing, not something to be messed with and joked about. Worldly pleasure is NOT where it's at. Eternal happiness? Sign me up.

  17. I hate when people are fake. Let me explain a little. I don't understand how someone can change so quickly based on who they are around. One moment they're themselves and then next moment it's as if I have never met this person in my life. There is no need to put on a false facade. Be who you are and OWN it. If someone doesn't accept the person you are then remove them from your life. Just be who you are.
