Blog #2: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

If you could invite one person, living or dead, to dinner at your house, who would it be and what would you serve them? Give us the reasons behind both your invitation and your menu choices.

  1. I would invite Zac Efron because I am in love with him. Stupid maybe, but he would be top pick. And we would have spaghetti because that's my favorite meal. And it's probably his too, because we're perfect for each other.

  2. I would invite Carrie Underwood to dinner at my house because she is my idol. I think she is so talented yet very humble at the same time. I feel like we would be able to talk and sing together like super good friends (at least in my head that's how it would turn out). I would serve my mother's famous chicken enchiladas and a gourmet salad because Mexican food and salads are amazing.

  3. I would invite all 4 of my translators from my humanitarian trip to Vietnam this summer because I miss them so much! They were harder to say goodbye to than the kids we taught for 2 weeks and when we parted ways, everyone was in tears. I would serve some traditional vietnamese food (Phö, dragon fruit, ba ca, etc) plus some American food because I want to make them feel at home but I also want them to experience the food we have here.

  4. I would invite Rosa Parks because she has inspired me since I was in elementary school. I would love to ask her about her life and the motivations behind her actions. I would feed her a mix of traditional southern foods and a mix of my favorite foods now like green beans with bacon and chicken divine so that she could have some of the classics and currents :)

  5. I would invite Emma Smith because she was such an important person in the beginnings of the Church. I would love to talk with her about the trials she had and the responsibility of starting the Relief Society. I would serve the Farmhouse Sunday Special, home raised roast beef, home grown potatoes and gravy, and home grown green beans :) because it represents how I was raised and also the time from which she came.

  6. I would invite Ryan Regan over for dinner. My family dinners are usually quite hilarious and having him there would be so fun. I would want to talk to him about both serious and comedic topics though. I would serve him chicken quesadilla and turkey sandwiches, because that's the food that he never got to eat on the back of the plane.

  7. If I could invite one person over to my house, I would invite Sister Marjorie Pay Hinckley. I would want to invite her because she has always been a woman that I look up to and strive to be like. She is so wise and knows how to love and be like Christ. We would have a nice dinner which included a summer salad, roasted vegetables and well made chicken. I would make that dinner because 1. you can't go wrong with it and 2. it is a clean, wholesome meal which represents her well.

  8. If I could invite one person over for dinner, I would invite Bill Cosby. He is super funny and a wholesome person, so my family and I would enjoy having him over. The dinner that would be served would be Cafe Rio style pulled pork burritos and cilantro lime ranch because it is my absolute favorite meal! It is so delicious.

  9. I would eat dinner with President Monson because he is an inspiration to me as he is with basically every member of the church. Having the spirit that radiates from him would make the dinner so amazing. Eating dinner with any of the apostles would be great. We would have pizza, fruit salad, and ice cream because those are my favorite foods.

  10. Ok, so I have two answers, if I was going to invite someone here, I would invite my best friend Shaylee, and all of my other ballroom friends, because I miss them all terribly, for them I would make something simple like sandwiches or pizza. Otherwise I would invite the one and only Alton Brown! I love the food network and Alton Brown is my idol and honestly I hope he would cook for me instead of me cooking for him.

  12. I would invite Abraham Lincoln over to dinner. He seemed like a very complex man and I would love to hear his view on so many things. I would serve Chicken Cordon Bleu because you can't go wrong with it. It's fancy enough to let people know you put effort into the meal, but not so fancy that it's unapproachable ( well as unapproachable as food can be). There would also be mashed potatoes and corn on the cob, two delicious items, as the sides. For dessert there would be brownies, because everyone loves brownies. Especially the Ghirardelli kind.

  13. I would invite Fu Mingxia she is the youngest person to win a world championship in any sport at the age of 12. Plus she did one of the coolest sports of all time, diving. She also won platform at the olympics at 13, which cause the minimum age requirement in diving to change to 14. She is just really inspirational for anyone in any sport. I would serve her pizza because I like pizza and who cares what she wants I am making the food or in this case probably ordering it.

  14. I would invite my uncle Mark! I was unable to meet him because he passed away before I was born. My parents always told me fun stories about him! He was a great person and I would love to talk with him! We would eat mashed potatoes and gravy, and a nice big pot roast with homemade rolls. That's one of my favorite meals, and a meal my family eats almost every Sunday. It's always so delicious!

  15. I would invite my little brother or sister because I miss them a lot! I don't have much time to talk to them now because we all have school and homework and church, etc. So, I would love to hang out with them over a dinner. We would have beef stroganoff because it's our favorite meal (usually reserved for fast Sundays) and it's rare to find a favorite meal my entire family loves.

  16. I would invite my grandpa! He passed away when I was about 4 years old. I have seen myself in pictures with him, but I'm unable to remember most of it. Also, my mom misses him an awful lot so I think she would enjoy spending some time with him. Well I don't think he ever experienced cafe rio, which is a crime. So we would go there and get burritos or salads.

  17. I'm inviting Jesus. Come on, who wouldn't want to have dinner with him. We'd order pizza, chill, maybe watch some TV or play some video games. He'd let me win because he's Jesus and all. It would be a sweet night.
